How an expert shower remodel can transform your space
Summary:
This piece highlights a tub-to-shower conversion in Olympia featuring a fully custom walk-in shower designed to fit a nonstandard footprint. Oasis built an on-site custom shower pan and tailored glass door, relocated and raised the controls, and installed modern matte black fixtures, full-height Sentrel wall panels, and a solid bench with an angled grab bar. The result is a waterproof, easy-to-clean, anti-slip shower that enhances accessibility and style. It demonstrates Oasis’s capability to handle any size, shape, or drain location for Puget Sound homeowners.
Introduction:
Many homes have large, outdated tubs that never get used, are dangerously hard to step over and take up large amounts of space in a bathroom. For these reasons many Washington homeowners like this one in Olympia opted to have their tub removed and the area turned into a large walk-in shower.
These are not easy jobs for contractors though, as the tubs are often not identical to standard shower pan sizes, meaning a custom shower base is required and not all remodelers are willing to take on those projects. Thankfully, here at Oasis, we have the ability to construct a shower base of any size, any shape and any drain location, meaning we can handle virtually any tub or shower situation! That ability leads to amazing results like these:
(Tub before and Shower After)

A closer look inside:
The valve and handle that turn the water on and off were moved into the wall and raised up to be easier to reach.
A shower spa was installed with a super modern Matte Black finish, rain shower head and handheld shower.
The Sentrel walls go all the way to the ceiling and even wrap the walls; this provides full waterproofing for the enclosure, and makes cleaning a breeze.
A solid shower bench was installed in the back with an angled grab bar just in front.

End Result: A fully custom-made walk-in shower
Custom Shower Pan: Because of the unique shape of the space, a factory built pan was not an option. The shower base in the photo was 100% custom built on site including the threshold. The pan perfectly matches the Sentrel Frost colored walls and has an anti-slip surface.
Custom Glass Shower Door: Using exact measurements from the completed project, Oasis had a custom door made, matching the modern Matte Black fixtures.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Can Oasis handle a tub-to-shower conversion in a nonstandard space or with an unusual drain location? Short answer: Yes. Oasis specializes in fully custom builds and can construct a shower base of any size, shape, and drain location. In this Olympia project, a factory pan wasn’t an option due to the unique footprint, so the team built a custom pan on site - including the threshold - to fit perfectly.
Question: Why was a custom shower pan used, and what features does it include? Short answer: The space’s unique shape made a standard, factory-built pan unsuitable. Oasis built the pan on site to match the exact footprint and the Sentrel Frost wall color. It includes an anti-slip surface for safety and was designed to integrate seamlessly with the custom glass door and modern fixtures.
Question: How did Oasis improve accessibility and ease of use in this conversion? Short answer: The water controls were moved into the wall and raised for easier reach. The shower includes a solid bench, an angled grab bar, and a handheld shower alongside a rain shower head. The anti-slip pan and walk-in design further enhance safety and usability.
Question: What are the advantages of the Sentrel wall system used here? Short answer: The Sentrel panels run full-height to the ceiling and wrap the walls, delivering full enclosure waterproofing and making cleaning simple. The chosen Frost color coordinates with the custom pan for a cohesive, modern look.
Question: What finishes and custom elements completed the look? Short answer: The project features a modern Matte Black shower spa (rain head and handheld) and a custom glass door fabricated to exact post-build measurements, with hardware that matches the Matte Black fixtures.
Question: How can I get started, and what areas do you serve? Short answer: Oasis offers a no-cost consultation and serves the entire Puget Sound area. Call (253) 243-3840 or email Info@oasisbathsolutions.com to discuss your project.
