Project Overview
This master bathroom in Redmond Ridge had all the right bones: a large, well-proportioned primary suite layout, a beautiful stained glass octagonal window as a focal point, and a skylight that brought natural light into the room. What it had outgrown was everything else. A built-in blue-tiled Jacuzzi tub with brass fixtures, a framed glass shower enclosure, original oak vanity tops, and dated flooring had made the bathroom feel like a time capsule from the late 1990s.
Viren J. worked with Oasis Bath Solutions to design a full master bathroom renovation that replaced everything dated while keeping what made the room special. This is a strong example of a master bathroom remodel in Redmond focused on a complete finish-level transformation rather than a layout change
The Challenge: A Late 1990s Master Bath That Had Outgrown Itself
From Built-In Jacuzzi and Framed Shower to Freestanding Tub and Custom Walk-In Shower
This Redmond Ridge home was built during the 1990s buildout of the East Redmond plateau, when master suites in this community were designed with generous proportions and built-in Jacuzzi tubs as a centerpiece feature. By the time Viren J. contacted Oasis Bath Solutions, the Jacuzzi had gone unused for years. The blue ceramic tile surround, brass fixtures, and built-in platform all reflected a design language from a different era. The framed glass shower enclosure on the opposite wall had the same problem: functional, but dated in a way that stood out against the rest of the home's current finish level.

The vanity cabinet itself was well-built and in good condition, but the original countertop and fixtures had not aged as well. The flooring was original to the build.
The stained glass octagonal window above the tub area was a pre-existing feature that the homeowner wanted to keep. The skylight above the shower was also pre-existing and remained. The goal was to transform everything else around those two character elements.
Our design team planned the project around the existing layout without any structural changes: remove the Jacuzzi platform and build a freestanding tub setup in the same footprint, replace the shower with a custom Tyvarian walk-in, upgrade the vanity countertop, and update the flooring and ceiling fan.

Before and After
The Result: A High-End Master Bathroom That Fits the Rest of the Home
The Jacuzzi platform and blue tile surround are gone. In their place is a modern freestanding soaking tub in matte white, positioned on a raised dark walnut platform that anchors the tub visually without blocking sightlines to the stained glass window above. Tyvarian stone panels line the wall behind and beside the tub as wainscoting, matching the shower wall system and bringing cohesion to the whole room.

The new walk-in shower uses the same Tyvarian stone pattern as the tub surround: white marble look with natural gray veining, no grout lines anywhere in the wet area. The frameless glass door and panel open the shower visually and let the stone wall system be the focal point. A recessed niche, horizontal grab bar, and handheld showerhead on a slide bar are built into the shower layout.

The existing oak vanity cabinet was retained and given a new stone countertop in white with subtle veining, two undermount sinks, and updated chrome fixtures. The mirror above reflects the freestanding tub and, behind it, the stained glass window. This that wasn't planned but works well with the finished layout.

Large-format stone-look flooring runs throughout the room, coordinating with the Tyvarian wall panels and the tub platform. A new ceiling fan was cut in and installed during the project.
The stained glass octagonal window and the skylight are both pre-existing and unchanged. The natural light they bring into the space works significantly better with the updated finishes than it did with the original blue tile.
The project included:
Removal of the existing Jacuzzi tub and built-in tile platform
Freestanding soaking tub in matte white with chrome floor-mount faucet
Raised dark walnut platform for the freestanding tub
Tyvarian engineered stone wainscoting panels behind and around the tub
Removal of the original framed shower enclosure
Custom walk-in shower with Tyvarian engineered stone walls (white marble look)
Frameless glass shower door and fixed panel in brushed nickel
Recessed niche shelf in the shower
Horizontal grab bar and handheld showerhead on slide bar
New stone countertop on existing double vanity with undermount sinks and updated chrome fixtures
Large-format stone-look flooring throughout
New ceiling fan

Benefits
Results of this Redmond Ridge Master Bathroom Remodel
A Bathroom That Matches the Rest of the Home
The finish level of the original master bathroom had fallen significantly behind the rest of the home. The new freestanding tub, Tyvarian shower walls, and stone vanity countertop bring the primary suite into alignment with what a Redmond Ridge home at this price point should have.
Zero Grout in the Wet Areas
Both the shower walls and the tub surround wainscoting use Tyvarian engineered stone panels, which install without grout lines. The wet areas in this bathroom will not stain, absorb moisture, or develop the maintenance issues that came with the original blue tile surround.
A Freestanding Tub That Actually Gets Used
The original Jacuzzi was a practical problem: rarely used, hard to maintain, and dominating the room's footprint with dated materials. A freestanding soaking tub in the same footprint is simpler, lower-maintenance, and used regularly.
Preserved Character
The stained glass octagonal window and the skylight were both kept. The remodel built around them rather than removing them, which kept the room from feeling generic. The window reflects in the new vanity mirror. The skylight now illuminates Tyvarian stone walls instead of blue ceramic tile.
One Team, Full Scope
Freestanding tub, custom shower, vanity countertop, flooring, and ceiling fan, all completed by one in-house team without coordinating separate contractors. That's how a project of this scope stays on schedule and on budget.
Is a Full Master Bathroom Remodel Right for Your Redmond Home?
If your primary suite has a good layout but finishes that feel significantly dated compared to the rest of your home, a full master bathroom remodel is likely the right scope. This Redmond Ridge project shows what a complete finish-level transformation looks like: every surface and fixture updated, the layout unchanged, and the result feeling like it belongs in a well-maintained Eastside home.
This type of project may be a good fit if you are looking for:
a master bathroom remodel in Redmond that updates the full primary suite
removal of a built-in Jacuzzi or jetted tub no longer in use
a freestanding soaking tub installation in the existing footprint
a custom walk-in shower in Redmond with grout-free Tyvarian walls
a new vanity countertop on an existing cabinet
updated flooring throughout the master bath
Why Redmond Homeowners Choose Oasis
Redmond Ridge was built out during the late 1990s and 2000s, and the master bathrooms in homes from that era have aged at the same pace. The layouts are typically generous. The finishes are what's dated. A remodel that focuses on replacing surfaces, fixtures, and materials - without changing the layout - can be planned and completed more predictably than a structural renovation, and the result can be genuinely high-end when the right materials are chosen.
Whether you are planning a bathroom remodel in Redmond, a freestanding tub installation, or a custom shower remodel, our team can help you design a primary suite that fits your home and your long-term expectations.
What Does a Master Bathroom Remodel Cost in Redmond?
The cost of a full master bathroom remodel in Redmond depends on the scope of the wet area work, freestanding tub and fixture selection, vanity countertop material, flooring, and whether any ceiling or structural work is involved.
This Redmond Ridge project included complete removal of the Jacuzzi and tile platform, a freestanding tub installation with Tyvarian stone wainscoting, a custom Tyvarian walk-in shower with frameless glass, a new stone vanity countertop on the existing cabinet, large-format stone-look flooring, and a new ceiling fan.
Full master bathroom remodels of this scope typically start at $20,000 and vary based on fixture selections and finish level. For a broader pricing reference, see our Bellevue and Eastside bathroom remodel cost guide.

FAQs
How much does a full master bathroom remodel cost in Redmond?
Full master bathroom remodels in Redmond typically start at $20,000 and range significantly depending on the scope, finish level, fixture selections, and whether structural changes are involved. A project that replaces a Jacuzzi tub with a freestanding soaking tub, installs a custom walk-in shower with engineered stone walls, and updates the vanity countertop and flooring sits in the $20,000 to $35,000 range depending on material selections. We provide a clear, itemized quote after the free in-home consultation.
How long does a full master bathroom remodel take in Redmond?
Most full master bathroom remodels take one to two weeks depending on the scope of wet area work, fixture lead times, and whether any ceiling or structural work is included. A project like this one, covering tub, shower, vanity, flooring, and ceiling fan without structural changes, typically falls in the seven to ten business day range. We walk through the full timeline at the consultation before any work begins.
Can you remove a Jacuzzi or jetted tub and install a freestanding tub in its place?
Yes, and this is one of the most common master bath requests we get from Redmond homeowners. Most Jacuzzi and jetted tub platforms can be demolished and the footprint converted into a freestanding tub setup without structural changes. The existing rough plumbing in the floor is typically reused, though a floor-mount faucet requires its own supply connection. We assess the existing plumbing configuration during the consultation and walk through the conversion scope before any work is scheduled.
What is Tyvarian and why is it used for shower walls and tub surrounds?
Tyvarian is a non-porous engineered stone surface designed specifically for wet areas. It installs without grout lines, which eliminates the moisture absorption and staining that traditional grouted surfaces develop over time. In a master bathroom, it also provides a cohesive high-end look across both the shower walls and the tub surround wainscoting without requiring ongoing sealing or regrouting. It carries a lifetime warranty and holds up well in the Pacific Northwest climate.
Do I need a permit for a full master bathroom remodel in Redmond?
It depends on the scope. A project that replaces fixtures, wall systems, flooring, and a vanity countertop without moving plumbing supply lines or making structural changes typically does not require a City of Redmond permit. Projects that relocate plumbing rough-in, change the drain location, or involve structural modifications do require a permit. We review your specific project during the consultation and handle the permit process when needed.
Can you keep an existing vanity cabinet and just replace the countertop?
Yes. If the vanity cabinet is in good structural condition, replacing the countertop and fixtures is a cost-effective way to significantly improve the vanity's appearance without a full cabinet replacement. This is what we did on the Redmond Ridge project: the existing oak cabinet was retained and given a new stone countertop with undermount sinks and updated chrome fixtures. The result looks like a fully new vanity. We assess the cabinet condition during the consultation to confirm whether the existing structure is a good candidate for this approach.
